Our branches used to have the standard USA Patriot Posters in the branch lobbies and smaller signs at each individual teller station and/or desk where new accounts can be opened. They recently decided to stop utilizing these signs and maintain the Chex Systems only signs at teller stations and/or desks. Does anyone know if this sign that simply states Chex Systems is compliant with the USA Patriot AcT requirement to notify customers of how the bank will verify ID?

Thanks.

The USA Patriot Notice is below. What that has to do with any ChexSystems sign I have no idea.

Important Information About Procedures for Opening a New Account

To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account.

What this means for you: When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver's license or other identifying documents.

What Chex Systems has to do with the USA Patriot Act was my exact question to them. They are using Chex Systems to verify ID so that is why they erroneously thought that it was sufficient in place of the actual Patriot Act signage. They are already putting them back up now, I just wanted to reach out to make sure I wasn't crazy as they pushed back for a minute. Haha!

Thanks for your help as always!
