There is an update on Natalie's website. Yesterday they tapped her belly to drain the fluid and tested it.

Momofnataliebear reports today:

Well, the "tapping" showed that the ascites fluid is not infected. So the plan is to treat this like it is cholangitis (that will make it #3 for her). She is getting a PICC line right now. Then they want to send us home on IV anti-biotics until the transplant.

After 2 full days, already her fevers are gone. Her belly is a bit smaller, but I think that they will send us home on a diuretic.

Her mood has improved (even though she's been NPO (orders to have no food or drink) for 18 hours)! She continues to be my little German-Irish spit-fire. She has gotten blood drawn 4 or 5 times now since we've been in-patient, and I've said it 100 times, I have no idea where she gets her temper from!



Please continue to keep Natalie and her family in your prayers.

Thanks for updating us! She sounds like she's in better shape and we'll hope all stays well for the surgery on schedule. We want that little spitfire out and about this summer

Check the mail when you have time.... I'm so glad to hear this report. It sounds like she has exactly the right amount of spirit to beat this. And something tells me she gets that from you.

Thanks all. We're still in Chicago - Corkygirl, what the heck is up with "Lake Affect" snow?! They are talking about releasing us (for 13 days) today or tomorrow.

Also, yesterday we received a stack of cards and letters that they have been holding for us since our last visit - it was so cool!

Don't you just love that "lake effect" snow!!! At-least it's just the light, fluffy stuff and over by noon!! Bundle up that little one and go home!!!

Sounds like you have a tough little girl there! I'm glad to hear she is doing better. Continued prayers for you both.

Well, today is my last day at work until after the surgery. We are home from our latest hospital stay. The bear is strong and feeling good. She's on IV meds, a diuretic, and blood pressure medication.

The doctors would like us to keep the bear home from daycare. Thanks again, for all your prayers and encouraging words! Our priest came over yesterday and blessed us both. That has helped to bring me some comfort...it's out of my hands now and into God's.
