Good grief! In the song (which I, too, liked until I listened carefully to the words), the guy is calling his ex-girlfriend "honey", talking secretively (not letting his current know about it), saying how sweet it sounds to him hearing her say his name, and saying sometimes he wishes his current girlfriend is the ex-girlfriend.

If you can somehow rationalize to yourself that this isn't him being majorly unfaithful to his current relationship, then I do believe that you might have a bright future career in political spin doctoring! There are more ways to be unfaithful to your partner than just by physically being with someone else, imho.
