"Seacrest Out!" Can you say cheeeeeesy?
LOL
We sat there after the last show discussing how many times Ryan practiced that line in the mirror before coming up with "Seacrest Out!"
..."Ryan, bye" no, no, no ..."Seacrest, gone" no, no, no
I suppose Emeril's BAM is cheesy, and Walter Cronkite's "and that's the way it is" is cheesy. It's a signature line. Good announcers use them. They help identify them. Sure, it's a bit corny, but plenty of people have gotten famous with corny lines.
yeah, but Ryan is an idiot. He's not even funny (although he thinks he is). Heck, I'd take Chuck Willery (sp?)from Love Connection (and his pointing finger) as a host any day over him!
Also, is it just me, or is Simon pretty tame this year? He looks like he is almost afraid to say what's on his mind. I mean, sometimes he's right. If all the judges said -"you were great" - like Paula, what's the point of having judges????

About the beginning of this season reports said that this is Paula's last American Idol. She wants to get back into performing, like she hasnt been doing that! I really liked Anwar in the beginning and thought he might be the winner but have to agree he's been going downhill. What's the old saying, "those that can do, those that can't teach", seems to fit in his case.

I didn't watch the whole show last week, so I watched my tape of it over the weekend. I think that was my favorite AI yet. I graduated from High school in 1977, so I was familiar with almost every song. I think his first name is Anthony (I know his last name is Federov)did much better than I have given him credit for in the past and Scott's voice is even better than Daryl Hall's voice was on "She's Gone." Constantine is still the one to beat as far as I'm concerned.

My two favs are Carrie and Constantine. Scott is a good singer, but has zero personality. I'm ready for him to go. I was surprised that Nadia was voted out last week. Anwar was one of my orginal favs, but he has been slipping lately.

I can't go for that...no...I can't go for that. He did a decent job, but Daryl outsings him by a longshot...and he gets songwriting credit too, right?
This week, I think they should add 4 phone numbers to the list and let people also vote to remove Simon, Secrest, Randy or Paula based on their most recent performances. I'm not sure which I'd vote for right now.

You're right. I phrased that wrong. The tone and clarity of Scott's voice was better than Daryl Hall's. Of course he didn't hit some of those low notes as they pointed out during the show.

Some? Try any.
Z, I'd vote to remove Paula STAT. Seriously, does she have a substance abuse problem or something?? I've only seen 2 shows this season, but I can't get over how awful she has looked/sounded/behaved.

Get ready! I read that she is returning to the recording studio again! Do you have a dream lineup of judges? I'd love to see: One judge who is a top-tier voice coach; one who is a voice teacher from a prestigious music schools, like the Berkley School of Music in Boston; and a third who is a pop singer/celebrity with with substantial voice training, but I am not sure who that would be.

Paula has said that this is her last season on Idol. As said above, she wants to return to performing.

Her leaving AI is very good news because she definitely does not contribute anything as a judge, not to mention she is annoying as he@@. It will be interesting to see who replaces her.
What's Pat Benetar doing these days? She's an opera trained vocalist!

I don't know who I would vote for, we only have a black and white t.v., they all look the same to me. Mom and Dad said I shouldn't watch this but sometimes I sneak into the living room when I should be sleeping (don't tell them).

Mike, Pat Benetar and her husband Neil are touring, they're playing in Boston this summer. I wouldn't mind actually going, she's awesome!
Ooooh she's going to be in Kettering (just south of Dayton, OH) in June! I'll have to see if I can get tickets.... Please tell me she didn't go from being beautiful to match her voice to fat with no voice over the years!

Just read that the theme for tonight's show is 70's dance songs. Anwar is supposed to sing Earth, Wind and Fire's "September"; Carrie sings Donna Summer's "MacArthur Park"; Constantine to sing Bee Gee's "Nights on Broadway." Should be interesting.

Does this mean that Bo is going to have some problems?

Let's hope it's just "70s" and he can do something like Bob Seegar, The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, etc.
If it's disco... Barry White's Can't get enough of your love, Average White Band's Pick up the Pieces, Kool and the Gang's Get Down on It, and the Commodores Brick House might be songs he could pull off that were all considered to be part of the Disco Fever.
Of course if it's Disco, we could be looking forward to Vonzell really shining by doing either a Gloria Gaynor, Diana Ross, or perhaps even Candi Staton's Young Hearts Run Free.... She should really shine in this selection.

He sang "Vehicle" (Ides of March?) - he rocked, as did Vonzell.
Carrie's choice was bad but she pulled it off by the end. I thought Anwar was bad, Constantine's time is up too. Scott was okay...Anthony's still hanging in there, but sounds like a commercial for Carnival Cruise Line....
Anybody's guess...

My observations:
Constantine - he did pretty well, but cheeeeeeese - did you notice he had eye makeup on??? I couldn;t stop laughing though because a couple weeks ago on Saturday Night Live, Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake did a skit singing that song which was hilarious.
Carrie - great voice, but I did not like the arrangement and she looked really uncomfortable out there. She couldn't walk in the heels, hated how she looked, and maybe it was just me, but she seemed just a step out of sync with the music.
Vonzell - thought she was very very good.
Scott - I don't like that song - I really wish he would pick better songs, but that said, I thought he sounded better and more relaxed than he has since the beginning.
Anwar - I just can't believe Randy and Paula liked that. I thought he ruined a great song and I just think he was absolutely bad bad bad.
Anthony - vanilla is all I can say - what happened to all the dancing he was talking about before he sang.
Bo - not a big fan (let go of the mike stand dude), but I thought he sounded very good and he ended the song great.
Judges - Paula continues to be ridiculous with her dancing and never having a bad word for anyone. Simon was right on the money, I thought, as usual. Randy is Randy. I would like to see them say what they feel about the performances on Wednesday shows after they have watched on tape.
My bottom 3 would be Anwar, Anthony and Constantine, with Anwar getting the boot.
