Oh and one last thing - there was too much background singing in most of the songs.

Judges - Paula continues to be ridiculous with her dancing and never having a bad word for anyone. Simon was right on the money, I thought, as usual. Randy is Randy. I would like to see them say what they feel about the performances on Wednesday shows after they have watched on tape.
I totally agree, with one addition. I have now started to push the Mute button whenever Seacrest starts to talk.

I hate Scott, he is awful and somewhat rude I think. I hope he is the one to be voted off tonight. There is nothing good about him.

Oh Dave, I said the same thing to my husband, especially with Vonzell, I said you can hardly hear because the background singers are drowning her out.

Definitely with Vonzell & Constantine - I thought it was supposed to get harder as the competition progressed, not Karaokeasier????
I am starting to think that Vonzell may win this thing. Carrie has an unbelievable voice, but she lacks a bit in personality. I used to like McArthur Park.

My observations:and my observations
Constantine - he did pretty well, but cheeeeeeese - did you notice he had eye makeup on??? I couldn;t stop laughing though because a couple weeks ago on Saturday Night Live, Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake did a skit singing that song which was hilarious. He did a good enough job to stick around
Carrie - great voice, but I did not like the arrangement and she looked really uncomfortable out there. She couldn't walk in the heels, hated how she looked, and maybe it was just me, but she seemed just a step out of sync with the music. She has one of the best voices in the competition. Totally lost on Simon was the fact that she was trying to dress sort of 70's
Vonzell - thought she was very very good.Good enough to stick around
Scott - I don't like that song - I really wish he would pick better songs, but that said, I thought he sounded better and more relaxed than he has since the beginning. You gotta be kidding. Gotta disagree with you. That is one of the best songs of disco--which there are very few. What is wrong with that song? Carl Carlton's voice is phenomenal. Scott did a decent job. Actually, I was hoping that Bo would do that song some time this year. I think it would lend itself to rock treatment
Anwar - I just can't believe Randy and Paula liked that. I thought he ruined a great song and I just think he was absolutely bad bad bad.I agree with Simon that he just sounded like someone who was just sort of singing a song from the 70s rather than trying to win a competition. If this week's performance is the guage, Anwar is gone.
Anthony - vanilla is all I can say - what happened to all the dancing he was talking about before he sang.He was kidding about the dancing. I thought he did a good job with a little known song. A better known song would have gotten a better response. I know the song, but don't like it.
Bo - not a big fan (let go of the mike stand dude), but I thought he sounded very good and he ended the song great.Vehicle by Ides of March. What a great song, what a brilliant choice, and what a great rendition. Who cares about the mike stand--that is a minor point. He was the best of the night. However, I thought the theme was disco and this is not a disco song. Wasn't the theme disco?
If the theme was the 70s, then the song selection stunk. The 70s were not dominated by disco--only the last two years of the 70s. If the theme was disco, only Everlasting Love, I'm Every Woman, and Nights on Broadway were good choices. EWF's September is an R&B dance song, but I would not call it disco. Vehicle is definitely not disco. Anthony's Tavares song was too obscure. MacArthur Park is awful whether sung by Richard Harris or Donna Summer.

Especially on September. Anwar did not even sing the Ba-de-wa-de-wa-de-wa part a backup singer did. What a disappointment.

Z - (and congrats on the doctorate by the way) I just don't like "Everlasting Love", that's all. And I don't know where the heck you were in the 70s, but no one in my neck of the woods dressed like Carrie in the 70s. And I know the mike stand is a minor point, I just think he could try something different.

It really annoyed me especially during Vonzell's song. I was shouting BACKUP singers not MAKE HER SHOUT singers.

BO ROCKED!! YESSS!!! I was hoping he would come back strong this week and he did! I love his voice.
I also liked Vonzell, Constantine & Scott. I'm just not a fan of Carrie's, and she looked pretty stiff last night. The dress was more a June Cleaver look than a 70's look, IMO. (Sorry June)! Anwar totally screwed up September by EWF. That is one of my alltime favorite songs, and it just hurt my ears to listen to him sing it. And, as you all know, I think Anthony has a decent voice, but not as talented as the rest. He really needs the boot!

The pefomances were good last night. I thought the background vocals were very loud they overshadowed the lead singers like on Vonzell, BO and Constantine. My favorite for the night were in this order: 1. Bo Bice 2. Vonzell Solomon 3. Carrie Underwood 4. Scott Savol 5. Anthony Federov 6. Constantine 7. Anwar Robinson. Juding from talent along Anwar did not do well. He just has not displayed the talent that I know he has inside of him. Did anyone read the USA Today paper in the music section? They had very interesting comments on all th performers. Their take was Nadia Turner was the only one in the competition who could have been the next idol. Well Nadia will not be back so we have to settle with who we have left in the running. Top Three-Carrie-Vonzell-Constantine. I think tonight ANWAR shuld be going home. Goodbye ANWAR!!!!!!!!!!

In the late 70s, when MacArthur Park was popular (again), I was living in......Chicago. Hmmmm. Sounds like your neck of the woods.
All I meant was that she was attempting a 70s "stage" look. What folks wore on stage and what regular people wore were two completely different things. Imagine many of the 70s performer showing up in public in what they wore on stage--particularly in the South, Midwest, or Texas. Bowie would not have lasted a minute in downtown Tulsa.
Big hair was definitely a disco thing. I did not say Carrie got it right; I just meant she was trying for a disco singer look.
BTW--The doctorate is not a recent event, but thanks for the nod.

I had to miss it last night. I had a mandatory meeting... I am going to watch the results show, but it's gonna be hard not to get upset, since I didn't see it last night.

I taped it. Wire me $1000 and I will fly it up to you this afternoon. Actually, I'll take $995 because I missed part of Constantine's performance. What city are you in--I may have to adjust my price?

Why in the world get upset about it at all? They all will get a chance to record a CD so its all good. Some will do better but life will go on.

ok, let me rephrase. I won't be upset, I just have my favorites, and I can't make a judgement based on performace when I didn't see the show. If one of my favorites goes home, it's tough to know if they really deserved it...
