What types of information do other banks supply to the board or CRA committee regarding their CRA program?

Thanks

For an annual or periodic report, you can report investments (and grants, if any) to date, loans to date, rating on exam if you just had one, service activities to date or in the works, and trends (compare to prior periods). You could also report how the loans, grants, investments and activities relate to your assessment area - do you have any weak spots and how will that be addressed.

I use the CRA Self Assessment that is in BOL's Bankers Tools section. I fill it out annually based on the previous calendar year but then add all the information going back to our previous exam. That way my Board is informed about how well we performed this year over last and where we are at as far as our total investments, CDL's & etc. compared to the goals we want to reach prior to our next exam.

We have a CRA Committee that meets quarterly. The committee is comprised of the Chairman of the Board, the President/CEO, the Sr. Executive VP/COO, the EVP, Chief Lending Officer, the EVP, Retail Banking Officer, the EVP, Chief Financial Officer, the SVP, Retail Lending, the Compliance Officer, the SVP, Marketing/Advertising, and the CRA Officer. Minutes of the meetings are shared with the Board of Directors.

The meetings include a discussion of the HMDA data for the prior quarter with respect to lending in low- or moderate-income census tracts as well as lending to low- or moderate-income applicants. We also discuss the percentage of loans originated within our CRA assessment area. We discuss the small business loan data for the prior quarter. We discuss CRA loan purchases or investments in mortgage backed securities. We discuss service activities conducted during the prior quarter. We also have a charitable foundation so we discuss the grants awarded. We also discuss Federal Home Loan Bank grant activity. If there have been any changes in regulations regarding CRA since the last meeting, they are discussed. We also discuss CRA training provided to employees.
