With the right clothes, though, that physique could transmit "International Polo Player" or "Americas Cup Yachtsman", which wouldn't be too awful bad. Of course, with clothes from the International Male catalog, you could be putting out the 'Part-time Male Stripper' vibe. (your call on whether that's a plus or a minus..) (big, big, grin, just joking, all 'intended to be humorous' lights flashing..)

Oh, definitely not. I have watched many players at the bars and restaurants over the past couple of years who I would categorically describe as "scrubs". I have found that picking up the right type of woman is a subtle art, not to be confused with slamming shots and then laying down sloppy game.

One of my largest problems is that my physique automatically places me in the stereotype of "jock / musclehead" which, is often a barrier when approaching women of finer intellectual / emotional vintage.

Wow, could you be any more full of yourself? Let me paraphrase what you've said in your last few posts...

"I am a true gentleman and better than all others. I look down upon the petty, childish, boorish pickup lines and scoff at the "Average Joe." I say to them, "Let the dogs lie with the dogs!" I, on the other hand, am superior to them not only in my intellect, but also in my physique. It's a curse to be so good looking and yet so intelligent."

Do us all a favor and get over yourself. Respect It.

I dunno about McDonalds. I think it would be more fun to put a keg at first, third, and in the dugout. Everytime you reach first, third, and home, you have your teammates help you do a kegstand. Definitely more fun.

Working for a local community bank, I think it might be risky; however, I think it might have potential for a tie-in with a checking product. Maybe I can get some other guys in the bank to do a revue with me.

Actually, I could. I could say "I'm God's gift to women" or "I am able to pickup women on a whim" or something equally silly.

Quote:

I look down upon the petty, childish, boorish pickup lines

I've heard countless complaints from female friends about how some guy used some line on them and how stupid it sounded.

One of my favorite songs by Cowboy Junkies is a song called: Where Are You Tonight?. It opens like this:

Quote:

There's a young man in the corner playing 'Crazy' all night long. Quarters piled high upon the table.
He orders Wild Turkey and with a quick wit and a smile
He says, 'My darling, you're the one I'll drape in sable'

But his baseball cap and this bar-room rap tell me a different story.
That this is not my prince to grant all my wishes.
Just another lonely country-boy grown weary of the night.
Just another boy with a sink full of dirty dishes

.

I think that passage encapsulates perfectly what women (and men) feel when they hear one more insipid come-on line fueled nothing by alcohol and the desire to feel love, but only for a moment.

In addition, wouldn't it make sense to look down upon something that is, as you described, petty, childish, and boorish? I always thought those words described something negative, rather than positive.

Quote:

and scoff at the "Average Joe."

I don't scoff at the "average joe" as, I am the average joe. In addition, I have a lot of friends who are average joes.

I'm just another guy trying to make sense of the world, have some fun, and hopefully connect with someone I love. I don't consider myself special.

Quote:

I, on the other hand, am superior to them not only in my intellect, but also in my physique. It's a curse to be so good looking and yet so intelligent

Ah, so by "paraphrase" you mean "interjecting bias". That's okay, that's what people usually do when they attempt to paraphrase.

I'm sure there are lots of people, much smarter and better looking than I, who think that a proficient way to pick up women include using cheesy come-on lines or sliding up behind them on the dancefloor and grabbing them by the hips and rubbing their junk against her trunk. They could be right, because I have seen it work, MANY times; however, while I am stereotyping, I'm not necessarily interested in picking up the type of women who enjoys connecting on that level.

Saying that I am "so good looking" and "so intelligent" is one of those that would make it difficult for me to be any more full of myself; however, as I have mentioned earlier in this thread: "confidence is key".

I am confident that I am intelligent and attractive. Does saying that make me an egomaniac? Anon, perhaps you would feel better if I told myself that I was unattractive and stupid. I suppose I could do this while sitting at home eating junk food and watching television, all the while continuing to make the affirmation that I am unattractive and stupid.

Truth be told, I used to think that way. In addition, I used to be fairly overweight; however, I decided to make a change in my life and I'm not going back to where I used to be. If that means suffering some mal thoughts from a petty anon, so be it.

Quote:

Do us all a favor and get over yourself.

Please do me a favor and don't foist your insecurity on me. Confidence does not translate into a hyper-inflated ego; however, considering you need the comfort of the "anonymous" blanket to snipe at my character, I am sure that you know little about confidence. Take responsibility for your words before you decide to lecture someone on being irresponsible with their own.

As long as you don't disclose all the details from Friday night, you're fine. Well I guess if you wanted to confirm the "hot libriarian auditor" thing you could.

DQ - sorry to let you down...no upcoming nuptials...just two friends hanging out.

Excellent! I'm glad that we've gotten to the point that we can infer Napoleon quotes and know what the other means!

I'd put that lousy picture from our company directory out here if I could figure out how.

It's a good thing there aren't any pictures from Friday night!
