Wasn't it this week that the ABA predicted the final CIP rules to be out? Has anyone heard anything yet?

They were saying within two weeks. Two things to remember, that would be an estimate based on information they had, but is from people they do not control, and tomorrow never comes.

Hopefully it will be soon, but it isn't as though I don't have enough to do now anyway.

I'd be willing to bet your salary (confident, huh) that they have a pretty good idea of the contents. Unfortunately, the listeners won't have as much to go by.

According to my "source" at the Treasury Department, the final regs will be out in the next two days! Yup, and I believe in Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny and the Great Pumpkin and ....

Oh great! Probably Friday and I will be off Friday. Then one more week to work before vacation and got to get the annual privacy notices ready for mailing that week along with a zillion other deadlines to meet.

Why did I ever think I actually liked compliance? Beats me!

Well banker mama, you should have 6 months to get CIP in place. And better yet, now you'll have something to read on vacation.

Would your source happen to be the Iraqi Information Minister?

Airport, hotel, monorail. You gotta have something to do. Enjoying yourself will just make it harder to go back.

Maybe they should create "Regs on Tape"? Then we could even get smarter as we drive.

I can neither confirm nor deny my sources. (CIP -What CIP? There is no CIP! Whoever told you there are CIP regulations is a foolish American pig!)

For latest news on the IIM -

Iraqi Information Minister

My favorite quote remains: "I NOW INFORM YOU THAT YOU ARE TOO FAR FROM REALITY." Yep - something that happens to me on a daily basis.

Also (WARNING! MORE FRIVOLITY!) You gotta love the suggestions for actors to portay this guy. (Although some of the suggestions are no longer living, buy why should that matter?)

Hey, Banker Mama, I'm going to see Mickey Mouse too! Maybe I'll see you there! I'll be easy to spot. I'll be the one who ISN'T carriying a reg book, who ISN'T thinking about CIP and who IS visiting the "happiest place on earth"!

I'm singing the song right now!

Really I'm not even that wild about Mickey Mouse. I'm just fed up with examiners, compliance regulations, OFAC, FinCEN, BSA/AML and all that stuff and ready to have some fun! Grosvenor Resort here I come.

Where are you staying? We have a couple of branches on Hilton Head, so I do get down there from time to time. Plus the house magician at the Disney Hilton Head Resort was my original mentor in magic. I know you'll miss us all, but have a great vacation. Hope we have some good SC springtime weather for you to enjoy!

I heard from the ABA that the rules will be out Monday (4/28)or Tuesday (4/29). I think they meant 2003!
