Do you remember "Elf" They must have taken years of dust off him to bring him back for commercials.
Do you mean "Alf"?

I also remember The Man from Uncle. One day I wondered why that very cool show wasn't in re-runs. Then I saw an episode on TNT. Jeeze it sucked. No wonder we watched it about the same time as My Mother the Car.

The first couple of years (or was it just the first year) of Happy Days was very 50s. They intended it to be filmed using Hollywood movie techniques. Then they made the mistake of taking it before a live audience--it went down hill from there. If you want a wonderful piece of TV history buy the DVD of the first couple of years. It got downright silly later.

"Gilligan's Island" was the best....

Seems like things always go in 20-30 year cycles (I guess it's the next generation wondering how things were for the previous one). In the 70's anything to do with the 50's was really popular and we had shows like Happy Days. I also remember dressing up in jeans and a white T-shirt (with a fake pack of cigarettes rolled up in the sleeve) for "Greaser Day" every year in high school.
Now, "That 70's Show" is a popular TV show for my kids and our daughter's high school concert last week had a segment where everyone dressed in outfits reminiscent of the 70's.

That started from this tropic port, aboard this tiny ship. The mate was mighty sailing man, the skipper brave and sure, Five passengers set sail that day for a 3-hour tour. (A 3-hour tour.)
The weather started getting rough, the tiny ship was tossed. If not for the courage of the fearless crew, the Minnow would be lost. (The Minnow would be lost.)
The ship set down on the shore of this - uncharted desert Isle, with Gilligan, the Skipper too, the Millionare, and his wife, (first season only) The Movie Star and the rest (after the first season) The Movie Star... The Professor aaaand Maryann -
Here on Gilligan's Isle!
Yes - right now... I have no life.

"It's About Time"
I found the theme song on the Internet recently. A good use of my time! I did not know who Imogene Coco was at the time, but I learned that she was on the show--she was brilliant. (Kids, you may remember her as the aunt tied to the top of the car in National Lampoon's VACATION.)
Do you remember a late 60s short-lived comedy about a bumbling super hero--I think he had to take a little pill to have powers (was not a cartoon--Underdog). I think the theme song said something about him being in his pajamas.
Remember Deputy Dog???

Gilligan was good, but IMHO nothing beats Lucy.
