Has anyone ever done any casino night or texas hold em fundraisers for their Relay team?

We haven't, are you thinking about doing it at the Relay or before?

Before as a fundraiser for our team. I was kinda worried about the gambling idea????

I'm not sure, have you checked the fundraiser guidelines to see if maybe you can word it differently, like "chance game" or something like that?

Not yet. The idea got brought up so I thought I'd start looking around.

Our Relay is on the 25th and I have so much to do to get ready. I really hope we can get it all done! My Mom is coming up next weekend to help me with our campsite signs and Luminaria bags.

She really is an inspiration to me. There have been a few times where I thought about not forming a Relay team or skipping a year, but I think about her and everything she has gone though and realize that my time and effort are nothing in comparison.

I've told a few people, but my Mom just completed her 6th bought with cancer a few months ago. She had melanoma again, and they were able to get it all with one procedure. She's now at the point where she is being checked every 3 months to catch things as early as possible.

How she goes through this over and over again with a positive attitude I'll never know. She doesn't even tell people about her past or current experiences, she just smiles and keeps on going.

I'm really excited that we're going to be able to honor her as a survivor again this year.

She seems to be a real trooper, Sing. Tell her we're all pullin for her!!!

What an awesome attitude your mom has and displays in her everyday life!!! Give her a hug from one survivor to another!!

Our Relay is this weekend and I am freaking out about all of the stuff I need to get done before then. It's going to be a fun week!

How did your Relay go, Sing?

It was a nice event. My Mom had a good time and had the chance to relax and take it all in, so that was great.

We've already started talking about our plans for next year.

Got about a month left. Struggling with keeping our team motivated. We are having fundraising events this weekend and next and I had to recruit my friends to help as everyone is "busy".

That is always hard. At least you have some friends who are going to help you out. Good luck with your fundraisers!

Wish I had seen this thread earlier. Our team just had a Pampered Chef fund raiser. A $2300 party and with the company's 25% and our demonstrator's 10% we earned over $800 in one night. It was totally awesome.

It isn't too late for your team to try this, PC does it in the month of May only. Whether your demonstrator gives up her % is up to her but you can earn up to 25% from PC.

That's a great idea!!! We did a poker deal and made $500 and a car wash $130. Not too bad but we are way short on our goal.

We have a volleyball tournament that always brings in over $1000 and a BBQ lunch at the bank (we're on the town square) that brings in over $1000 as well. We sell candy bars at the teller windows and in the drive through...they're the $1 bars and we make 45 cents of each one we sell. Another local team does a Bunco night. I've also held bake sales and car washes in the past.

Will your bank let you do a Jeans Day? Charge employees $10 (or more) to partcipate. They pay ahead of time and are given a sticker to wear which shows why they are dressed down. If you could do this for every Friday for a month you could probably get a good amount of money.

We did a jeans day. That was where most of our funds came from.We will have to try some of these new ideas for next year. And drop the dead weight...

Next year, try to do a couple of raffles too. They work pretty well.
