A number of the firms affected reported that they implemented portions of their Y2K plans. The level of catastrophe was akin to that anticipated by widespread Y2K failure, so the plans were quite useful. Airlines, for example, had planned for a nationwide shutdown if ATC systems failed during Y2K.
