Adult Protective Services need not be the enemy!

Answered by:

Question:
You can work with adult protective services.
Answer:

Many financial institutions consider “Adult Protective Services” to be worthless because they never take a reported case. Every state in the union has different requirements for when Adult Protective Services can take a case. Before you have a senior citizen problem visit your local APS agency. The question you should ask is what exactly is required by law for APS to take a senior’s case? When you know what your state requires for physical abuse, sexual abuse, psychological abuse, neglect, and financial abuse you can prepare a checklist. On the day staff come to you with a suspected elder fraud case you will know the exact items you must have before calling Adult Protective Services.
