Bankers Beware: 11K+ ADA Lawsuits Filed in 2019

Question:
Website ADA Discrimination cases appear to be on the rise; how many of these cases were filed in federal court in 2019, and is this actually a significant increase from earlier years?
Answer:

The ADA website accessibility explosion continues, with no end in sight. Based on data from the first six months of 2019, there was a 12% increase over 2018 in the number of ADA Title III lawsuits filed in federal court. For the period from 1 January 2019 to 30 June 2019, there were 5,592 ADA Title III lawsuits filed in federal court; in the first six months of 2018, there were only 4,965 filings. It is projected that the number of filings will top 11,000 by the end of 2019, which would be, by far, the highest number of annual filings since these suits started emerging in 2013, when the number of federal filings was only 2,722. In other words, the number of cases has more than tripled in the last six years!
