Is it required for a BSA Officer to be certified and what is an independent BSA gatekeeper?

Answer:

The regs don't require that the BSA Officer be certified, but depending on your BSA risk assessment, your program may require such. The ABA has called for the creation of a position of Independent BSA Gatekeeper as part of a reform framework proposed by them last fall. This would be a key government policy position, not a position at your bank.
