There is no requirement for the curtain to be up or down after hours. What we generally see is, at the end of the business day, the curtain is lowered to avoid problems with customers trying to get in after closing time. When performing the final closing procedures, we recommend the curtain be opened. Law enforcement will sometimes do drive-bys during the night. If the window curtain is closed, they can't see into the branch. If they receive a call something is wrong at the branch, they will again drive by to review it. An open curtain allows them to inspect your building easily. Occasionally, criminals will have ways to disable alarm systems. When this is the case, a passersby noticing something amiss and calling 911 is your first line of defense. Law enforcement needs to be able to view inside your building to determine a crime is happening.
