E-retention of e- communication

How far back do you suggest we archive emails and other electronic communication under the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure?

Answer:

I have not seen any specific time frames for retention. This is more of a "location" requirement than a retention requirement under both the Rules of Civil Procedure and Sarbanes-Oxley. If the document were on paper, how long would you keep it? That should be your guide.
