Industry Standard - Microfilming Daily Work

Answered by:

Question:
Can you tell me what the standard industry practice is with regard to microfilming daily work in the branches? What are the risks of not filming prior to getting the work to the item processing center? How does this practice fit with disaster recovery procedures?
Answer:

If your work has not been processed prior to leaving the branch, you run the risk of not being able to completely rebuild the transactions if the work is lost. Some insurance companies will require you to film the work prior to it leaving the branch. As branch image capture becomes more cost effective, you may want to explore this technology.
