MICR Check Printing Extended into Mortgage Loan Processing -- Source Technologies

Question:

We are currently printing teller checks using MICR laser printers behind the counter. We have been asked by our Lending Group to provide some input on deploying MICR printers in the branch mortgage departments (currently, they come to the tellers to run closing checks). We are looking for any advice on improving their process and maximizing ROI. Does anyone have experience with this?

Answer:

We have many customers that have extended MICR printing into mortgage and loan departments. For a handful of closings each week, it probably doesn't make sense, but for a sizeable department doing a lot of volume, the payback is substantial.
