New Ein# if Business Changes Name & to Sole Prop?

Answered by:

Question:
Does a business need a new EIN number if they change the business name and change the business from a partnership to a sole proprietorship?
Answer:

If they have changed the account to a sole proprietorship, then you would be using their social security number and not an EIN that is used solely for reporting employee tax withholdings. Whether they need a new EIN is between them and the IRS.
