Privacy Notice, Web Sites, And Cookies

Answered by:

Question:
The more I read about the annual Financial Privacy Notice themore confused I get! If my bank has a Web site, does my initial and annual privacynotice also have to contain info on (i.e.) "cookies"?
Answer:

You are not required to put a privacy notice on your Web site, but it is encouraged. I recommend appending your real world statement with one particular to your site. This is advantageous because your customer may be disabling or deleting (tossing) their cookies and creating problems that your tech support or customer service department has to address. Since it is easy to address and place on your site, it is valuable information for your customer and customer to be, I recommend adding it as it will provide accurate disclosures that some customers actually want.
