Is it proper to release a copy of a check for a CTR that was filed? The agent want to know the source of funds.

There is no safe harbor for the release of documentation to support a CTR as there is with a SAR. Request a subpoena.

rlcarey is correct. The previous set of instructions for the CTR were wrong, leaving some law enforcement personnel with the wrong impression.
