Retaining Records Regarding Forgeries

Answered by:

Question:
How long are you required to retain records regarding forgeries?
Answer:

There may be state laws affecting how long you keep this material. At a minimum, keep it for at least the one or three years covered by the UCC statute for drawer or other forgeries.

If the forgery is involved in a SAR filing, keep it for the 5 years called for in the BSA regs.
