I think I saw a news article regarding using an eye-scan or finger print identification pads on ATM machines as a way to prevent unauthorized transactions. Is this technology available and is it cost effective?

Retinal scan technology is being tested on ATMs now. If it proves to be accepted by the consumers, reliable for the banks, and assists in security of transactions, it will become more popular and prices will come down. They could easily be made affordable.
