What is the time frame for returning a stale-dated check if it has already been cleared through the customer’s account and then we are notified by the customer that it was stale dated?

Answer:

You have your normal midnight deadline for returns. Check your version of the UCC (4-404) - the bank is usually protected when paying a stale dated check and your customer does not have a claim against you.
