Unique Identifier MLOs, NMLS, & NMLSR Difference

Answered by:

Question:
Since the NMLSRs inception, different banks have referred to an MLOs unique identifier differently. Would you please settle this question? Is it an NMLS number, an NMLSR number, or an MLO number? Does it matter?
Answer:

Mortgage loan originator's unique identifier -- It's a defined term in CFPB Regulation G. What matters is that the listener or reader understands what is meant, regardless of what you call it.
