Tellers, customer service reps, managers, etc. have been encouraged for years to take courses in banking subjects to better serve their institutions.

Banking courses are now available for members of the board of directors to do the same thing. Originated by the American Association of Bank Directors in Washington, DC, educational courses are offered that can result in lower director insurance premiums if satisfactorily passed by the board member.
