Vacations Required
If Audit needed an example for why periods of absence are required for every employee, they got an important one recently.
It seems a top-ranking officer allegedly forged a variety of documents, including checks, stealing an estimated $500,000 from his employer. The embezzlement was discovered by a fellow-worker when the officer was forced to take time off because of illness.
The officer, in this case, was employed as a representative of the United States in the United Nations office in Geneva!
Banks learned a long time ago that required time-off the job is important. It's why we insist employees take vacations.
