Microsoft Releases Critical Patch for Windows Media Player
Microsoft released what it called a critical patch for its Windows Media Player 6.4,7.1 and Windows Media Player for Windows XP, to eliminate known security vulnerabilities.
This patch eliminates the security vulnerabilities in Windows Media Playerknown to date and three newly discovered vulnerabilities that could allow an attacker toruncode on the affected system or physically access aWindows 2000 machine, start a session on it and obtain the same right as theoperating system.
To determine the version of Windows Media player installed on your system, launch the Windows Media application and click on the HELP tab, then click on About Windows Media Player.
The update for the affected versions can be downloaded directly from the Microsoft site:
