Has anyone attending ACH Audit training by Mid-America Payment Exchange? Was it informative?
Thanks

I have not attended their ACH Audit training but I've attended seminars where the same individuals made presentations. They were very informative and well done.

Thanks for the information. It's hard to know where to get the most for your training.

I've been to the audit training. It was very helpful if you are new to ACH (which I was the first time I went). Their audit workbook is very good and we have used that for several years in addition to other internal control tests.

I attended the MPX Training the first year they offered it and it was VERY VERY helpful. I don't know what I would do without the workbook. If you can't attend the training yourself at the very least order the workbook. It made what I thought was going to be a huge ordeal seem like one of the simplest audits I do. It even references audit questions directly back to the ACH Rules. If you've ever tried to navigate the ACH rules on your own. You either have a lot more brain cells than me or far less need for sleep!

Help! For some reason, the latest edition of the ACH Rules that my bank has is 2001! Have the audit requirements changed? Will I be safe using the same format?

I checked the Revisions section of the Rules. Effective 3/14/03, there was an audit rule change. They added requirements for RDFI audits and third party processors who process on behalf of RDFI's. They also added provisions for ODFI's as well. The changes are listed from R22-R26.

In the last two years there have been so many Rule changes. A Rules book or even the corporate users version is almost a must have to keep you out of hot water with NACHA. They have also put some big teeth in the rules violation process with meaningful fines.

We get one free copy with our MPX membership. Maybe there is a copy in your organization somewhere. If not and since the year is going by fast, maybe you can get it at a reduced price.

I believe the rule book can be accessed and downloaded on the internet, though I do not recall the site. A google search may turn it up for you.

You can access the rulebook on the internet but only if you purchase a hard copy first. You are then provided with an access number which allows you to view the rulebook online.

Thanks for your help. I had already tried the website (mpx.org). I recommended that we get a rulebook soon and they were to make a phone call yesterday. Hopefully we will have it in the next month so I can get the audit completed by Dec 1!

I have attended several of MPX's seminars, both for audit and rules updates. The first one I went to I was baffled by all of the acronyms they used. RDFI?, ODFI?, PPD?, NOC?, what is that? The second seminar I went to I asked them to please explain these meanings or to provide a quick reference help sheet to the beginners. The gal putting on the training was so nice, she began explaining as she went along what all of these things meant. So if someone gets ahead on you, just ask them to slow down or expand upon what it was they just said.

Having said that, and now being a seasoned ACH auditor, I would recommend purchasing the ACH Audit workbook. I purchase it every year. Why? Because it will always address any rule changes and I don't have to create and modify an internal workprogram each year. It is a life saver!

Here in Wisconsin, we have WACHA at phone number 262-796-0252. They publish a self audit guide every year. www.wacha.org

I attended a workshop for MPX in the spring and the first thing they did was pass out a list of acronyms and their meanings. Maybe you gave them this great idea!

I hope so. All I know is if you have never dealt with ACH operations before it is so greek! I spent all of my time flipping through the handouts trying to figure out those acronyms that I was missing what the instructor was saying. I'm glad to see they are doing that now.
