I don't know if it's the best thread ever, but it's certainly the most unusual.

Do you have a Gas-Passing Policy, or is this just included in the Code of Conduct?

Ironically, I just returned from a Rotary Club meeting at which the program speaker was a substance-abuse counselor whose topic was "inhalent abuse." She mentioned White-Out as a product often abused as it can provide a little "buzz" when inhaled/ingested. YUM!

Just a side note. Will this thread ever die? It is like the energizer bunny.

Did she have stained teeth? Perhaps she thought white-out would help brighten her teeth-like those strips you put on at night.

Anon, you could hire a pica-eating teller to eat the white-out.

From the Desktop, right click your mouse, click on properties, click on the Appearance and try changing colors in the Scheme bar, or place the cursor over the spot and right click and hit the delete button.

If these don't work, some good old elbow grease or see if you can find and hire the Pica-eating teller.

Speaking of white out. I am in the audit dept and a funny story that happened is someone was cited for a flood determination...I can't exactly recall the exception but I think it had something to do with the date it was done. Anyway, the branch actually sent us the original document to dispute the finding and their was white out. When asked, the banker actually told us "that is the way it came over the fax!!!" Does anyone know of a fax machine with the white out feature.....:):):)

Just FYI, eating non-food items such as laundry detergent and white out is a sign of having low iron blood. Maybe a health check is in order. Is the number to your employee assistance program posted on the white out bottle?

Well, it appears that Harvey was correct that there were underlying health issues. The teller's husband just called HR and announced that she passed away last night from colon cancer.

As moderator, I recall seeing this post a while back, and have often thought of it since. However, it is indeed tragic that the teller has passed away. One has to wonder if there is a relationship between her illness and the consumption of white-out.

I think there is a lesson here for us not to be so quick to judge--particularly in the management of people. It looks like there was much more going on here than met the eye. We certainly will pray for her family.

OMG!!! I can't believe she died. In the first post it mentions something about it could be a sign of emotional distress. Maybe she was distressed because she knew she had cancer???

There is a story on CNN's Web site today of an extreme case of pica. What a bizarre condition.
