We purchased a 31%, or $118,258, participation out of a $383,334 loan. This loan qualifies as a Community Development Loan. How do I report this for CRA?

From the CRA Guide:

(2) For loan participations and
syndications, the “original
amount” of the loan participation
or syndication is the entire
amount of the credit originated by
the lead lender.

As long as the primary purpose of
the loan is community development,
the full amount of the institution’s
loan should be included in its report
of aggregate community development
lending.

"Rizzy is right" and this applies to reportable small business loans and small farm loans too (although during an exam only the amount of the participation purchased is evaluated). The proposed Q&A's would change the reporting of CD participation amounts to the amount participated (if the new Q&A's are ever published).
