This may be the same as above - can't access that from work, but this is from the AP:
WHITTIER, Calif. – The mother of octuplets says she had six embryos implanted in a fertility procedure and was well aware that multiple births could result.
Nadya Suleman says it was a gamble she also took for each of her six previous deliveries. She told NBC's "Today" she had six embryos implanted for each in vitro procedure. The number far exceeds fertility industry guidelines for a woman her age.
Experts say there's a small chance embryos can divide in the womb, which apparently led to the octuplets.
The 33-year-old Southern California woman, who gave birth to the octuplets last week, has been criticized because she is single, unemployed and already had six children.
Says Suleman: "I love my children."

Ok, I just read the article on People about this woman and it's just more confirmation that she's nuts.
She wanted a large family because of her childhood, where she had no control over the situation. Do you really think your 14 kids are going to have control over their situation? She really does have a screw loose.

She kept getting a kid implanted, apparently, to avoid having to get examined by a doctor to clear her to return to work, so that she could continue to collect disability and welfare. She was just doing her part to ensure that the wealth would keep getting spread. What an embarrasment to my hometown.

Is it just me, or does it look like she has had work done on her lips? I noticed it. Her demeanor seemed to mirror that of Angelia Jolie- without the Brad Pitt partner and the millions of dollars.

The word of the day:Zeitgeist n. (German) "spirit of the age", spirit of a specific period of history, cultural and intellectual characteristics or mood of a particular era; trend of a specific generation Comes from this article on MSN. Try reading some of the others referenced on the bottom especially this one.
Both of these point to the fact that this woman, who plans to support her 14 children by counseling after she finishes her master's degree, is, in the opinion of people quoted in the articles, obviously in need of therapy herself. My point exactly.
btw, Ops, I used your bedpost quote but was referring to that tv show with the 18 kids. I figured your relative was from the generations I quoted when the zeitgeist favored bigger families than the 2.5 norm for today.

she's getting her story out there though - that's exactly what she wanted. first "People", then the interview on dateline (i think) last night. you know she's getting the publicity and $$$$ that she was looking for.

I agree, I think her actions are selfish and greedy. She's having all these kids to fill some emotional void and the taxpayers are paying the tab. Foodstamps, SSI, Disability and now the enormous hospital bill...but she isn't on "public assistance". Please!

Don't worry. I read on one of the news sites earlier that she doesn't plan on having any more kids.

WooHoo! aren't we lucky for that! The State of California should sue the doctor for malpractice, and let his malpractice insurance reimburse some of the costs to the state.

Yeah! But she could always change that thing in her head called a mind (if she really has one) and ask her friend for another donation.

I just saw that website and it's beyond ridiculious. Since the tax payers in CA are supporting her she might at well get the rest of the county involved. I left her a comment, I hope that she takes it seriously.

Sing - would that comment be a recommendation to have a total hysterectomy?

i think it's interesting that you can't read other people's comments - you know she's deleting the comments that don't support her.

My comments recommended that she seek the help of a mental health professional and that she is wise with the money she will be receiving from interviews and donations so she can stop having the tax payers support her. Somehow I don't think she'll post it. LOL
I hope that she reads it, and that enough people chime in for her to at least question her current "plan".

Well, I did what I often do on BOL. Typed something and then didn't submit it. She's not going to listen to anyone. This website was probably the brainchild of her spokesperson. Wonder who's paying the spokesperson?
