This is a day or so late but I would like to thank all of you for your prayers over this past week. The fire stopped about 3 miles from Big Bear. It is impossible to describe the tragedy that So. CA has experienced from here to San Diego.
To put it in a personal perspective, I packed our important papers and pictures on Sunday but couldn't take them to our daughters house on Monday because all 6 gas stations here were out of gas-- Gas is something I guess we all take for granted. When we left on Tuesday the smoke was so thick that I had to use a wet towel to even breath.
We were out in the desert past Victorville, about 35 miles away but the smoke was still so thick that they cancelled school in Victorville and Barstow.
Bottom Line is.... THANKS FOR YOUR PRAYERS!!!! The rain and snow was not predicted and was a miracle - it stopped the fire and the ski slopes are actually going to open on Friday. So...here is my offer of thanks to all the BOL'rs ...you have a place to stay in Big Bear, if you want to ski this season.

I'm glad everything worked out well for you. I cannot imagine the devestation and heartbreak so many others are enduring.

There is something to be said for the power of prayer. I received e-mails from all over the country from members of a non-profit group I am in. One of the members took part in an internet prayer group to pray for our safety. I could see that a LOT of people were praying for rain. Rain was not predicted for at least another 2 weeks, yet it came within days. I don't think ANYONE predicted snow.

For those who post about loved ones going through tough times, or surgery, or other unfortunate circumstances, please know that even if I don't post a response, I do include you in my prayers.
