Can someone point me to where the minority level of a tract is defined? The marquis/centrax program indicates a minority level of a tract from 1 to 5 and 9 is not classified. Minority level 1 is a tract where minority percentage is >0% and <10%; Level 2 is >10% and <20%; and so on.

Roger, I don't use Centrax so I can't specifically answer with that program in mind. (your rep should be able to lead you to the correct report within the program...if not, find another vendor)

But...if you're interested in verifying the data in centrax, or doing a little homework outside of the program, review the informaton on the census bureau web site. You can get specific data on tracts, covering minority levels, specific minority penetration (what types of minorities are in the area) and if you dig deeper on the FFIEC site you can see how you're doing in meeting the needs of these markets compared to your competition (HMDA only).

Again your centrax program should be telling you this in a clear fashion, but there are other areas to review, the census (us factfinder) is the best place to start, followed by the FFIEC.

Don may have other suggestions, and some suggestions may be specific to your location Good luck!

A Minority Classified Census Tract is a tract with 20% or more minority Population. Analysis reports segragate tract in 0-10% 10-20% 20-30% etc.increments. So, you can determine the level lending by minority populations in a tract. Its also a way to determine minority population concentrations.

It sounds like centrax just has a code number assigned to the concentration levels for their own program purposes

Please don't cross post. This fragments the answers and causes more work for those of us reading most of the posts.

This would be appropriate if you get no responses in one area or if you go state specific, as examples.

Thank you for your consideration.
