Does WI law dictate that once you receive a death certificate, you are not to destroy the original? We scan death certificates into our imaging system and then shred the original. One of the local funeral homes we do business with came in and told us that a larger financial institution was fined because they made an electronic copy and destroyed the original. I had never heard of this.

Not that I can find. We scan ours and destroy the original as well.
