Anyone every made modifications to their gas bbq grill? I'm nto really talkign about pimping it out really, but more like putting better burners in it and stuff.
I have a Charbroil 4-burner gas grill but It's driving me nuts because the two burners on the right will get nice and hto but the two on the left won't ever get as hot, no matter how high i turn the flame. So when I am cooking an entire grill full of food, it cooks uneven and i really have to babysit it and play musical chairs with everything.
Any tips or ideas on why I'm having burner issues liek this or had experiencing modifying your grill?

A few years ago the burners on my grill went bad after many years of use. I bought replacement parts, but given the time it took to replace them, the cost, and that they didn't fit particularly well, you may want to buy a new grill.
However, just check out the burners-maybe they need a good cleaning.
I bought a mid range Weber last summer and love it.

You can buy a new burner assembly, just check your model type. it's pretty easy to do, i did it on my last grill and it was like getting something brand new.
i've got the smoker now, and i can't wait to use it!

I'd like to get an infrared grill like they have on Iron Chef America.

I have a friend who does metal fabrication and he made me some super heavy cast iron grill grates. I've had to season them a couple of times (same way you would for a pan) but they make the best grill marks and stay uber hot.
I've also placed unglazed flooring tiles on the grill grates to use like a neopolitan style pizza oven floor- the crust was good but because the heat was coming from below the top of the pizza didn't get the heat it needed.

Did the tiles cover the entire grill? Seems like if the heat could come up the sides it would do the top. Trying to find the flaw/solution cuz that sounds like an awesome idea!

No, probably 1/2 of the area. The problem is that in real pizza ovens the deck of the ovens is around 800-900 degrees, which I was able to achieve, but the domes of those same ovens register at nearly 1300 degrees, due largely to the fact that the heat pools at the top of the dome and because it's stone it's a good insulator, which isn't the case with metal (the kind of grill lid I have). If you had a Big Green Egg grill you might be able to pull this off, because of the materials they are made of. I just ended up pulling the pizzas when the crusts were done and finished them under the broiler inside, and they still ended up as some of the best pizzas I've ever tasted. Crusts cooked in about 1 minute and a half! And Doobs: Neopolitan=Naples. Dork!

Oh, darn. No Big Green Egg and no stone oven. Sounds like you could do some wicked focaccia with just the tiles though!

Someday when I get a little extra money I'm going to build a brick pizza oven. Someday.

And someday I'm going to build a cigar lounge with barbershop chairs, but that's a little off subject. (unless I build a grill too).

My sister-in-law took a masonry course but she won't do anything as great as a pizza oven. Actually I haven't seen anything she's done but I digress.

Take the lid of your grill, turn it upside down, add a layer of plastic sheeting, then pour some cement in there and make a thermal dome. just make sure you sculpt the bowl shape correctly.

Will that seriously work? How do you get it on and off without burning yourself?

You make a ring out of bricks with an opening to slide the pizza in.

It does look like like a WWII helmet, but I don't think Dominos has anything that would come close to tasting as good.
Did you make one of these *Buster*?
