My bank has made a habit of photo copying non customer drivers licenses when they cash an on us check. I am thinking this is some kind of violation. Is any bank doing this? As a non-customer I don't think I would like to have my drivers license copied and kept on file at a bank.

We do this if the non-customer cashes an on-us check that meets a threshold we set to run an OFAC scan. We have had a few people complain about it, and we offer them other options (have the person who wrote the check pay them in cash or take it to their own bank). When it occurs, the CSR immediately sends the OFAC scan and ID copy to the designated officer for review and safekeeping. The ID is never floating around or kept at the branch.
