What is the minimum volume of loans you could use to get a meaningful analysis?

We don't make very many HMDA loans compared to most institutions and they are spread out across our AA. There is really only one MSA that has a high concentration of loans to analyze so I'm trying to decide whether it's worth the trouble to look at the smaller concentrations or not.

Well, if you are just looking to see what your breakout is for race, gender, ethnicity, denials, originations, inside AA, outside AA, etc., you can look at everything. "Meaningful" really just comes into play if you are doing some fancy statistical analysis.

I was doing a peer analysis on the Peer HMDA Data Dashboard on CRA Wiz.

It's pretty neat on the place where we have quite a few loans but then in places where there aren't that many loans, I'm not sure how valuable the data that you get from the report is.

In that case it probably makes sense to limit yourself to an analysis of areas with over x% of loans/aps. If you can just include the areas that in total make up say 75% (I just pulled that number out of the air) you should have a good analysis. The very small ones won't sway your performance unless in total they are significant.

Thanks Kaybee!

I'll try and come up with a formula that makes sense.
