Dan Wetzel wrote a book called "Death to the BCS" that breaks it down. The AD's and Coaches get bonuses for any bowl game, so they take whatever they're offered. And the conferences split up the money from the BCS games among all the teams--not just the ones that made it to the BCS. Basically, the big bowls subsidize the little bowls, everyone gets a bonus, and no one speaks up about the lost money.

Since the Big East get's low money bowls, I think they will still lose money after all dollars are split. If Pitt's AD gets a bonus for the Panthers going to this lousy bowl, something is wrong. As for the Coach, I dont know about a bonus, but getting to the Compass Bowl got him fired. As for extra practice, the players were off from 12/22 to 1/3. So now we have a rusty team, with no head coach and only a few assistants left, with no motivation what so ever. And since this is the same team that didn't bother showing-up for National TV games against Miami, ND, and West Virginia, I'm not sure what would motivate them at this point. So expect a 'great' effort from the Panthers this week. Actually, I'll probably be the only one watching this nightmare, and I'll be doing it while taking down the Christmas decorations.

I guess i stole them from you if you think every team in the SEC (or even the majority of teams in the SEC) could go undefeated in every other conference.

I agree. It's maddening to watch those games. Instead of keeping up the pressure, the Vest always goes ultra-conservative to "protect" the ball and the lead. Almost backfired last night. Good thing the defense never let up.

Too bad about Rich Rod. Part of me will miss him because it's always nice to beat that school up north, but I also would like "The Game" to become competetive again.

Anybody see the article about the Georgia senior players having to give their senior plaques back to be redone? Seems they had their senior banquet before the bowl game, and the plaques were inscribed with a final 2010 record of 7-6. They just assumed they were going to win their bowl game.

Oops.

Sure am! laugh

Although I think he should have been fired either at:

1) The end of the Ohio State game; or
2) Halftime of the Gator Bowl.

Good riddance!!!!
