We have entered all of our loans into the CRA software. When we went to complete the transmittal sheet, it said our assessment area had "none".

I'm trying to figure out what our Assessment Geographies equal: are those the state, county, tract & msa/MD from each of our loans OR are those equal to the State, County, Tract & MSA/MD from the assessment areas of the cities/towns that we say we are going to lend to?

HELP!!!!!

If you are using the CRA data reporting software from the FFIEC website, I believe it is referring to the State, County, Tract & MSA from your assessment areas.

I used that software last year for reporting and had to enter each of our assessment areas in addition to reporting our ag/com loans.

HELP!!!!!

You have to set up your bank's selected assessment area so that the software can run reports on inside/outside ratios. From the front screen select Assessment Area and Update. The Help function provides good instructions. This means the assessment area where the bank has branches and any other area the bank has said it wants included (areas where you lend extensively perhaps.)

Select the state, county, tracts. If you have all tracts in a county, put NA and it then knows it is all tracts, rather than having to list each one. The help function gives examples.

Thanks for your responses.

So if our commercial RE lending area is to towns in 8 counties, but consumer and residential lending areas are different, then we want to include the 8 counties, all included, correct? It doesn't matter where we lend for consumer & residential in this case.

The bank HAS to have determined what its assessment area is. It is not something that changes on a whim. What was the AA in your last CRA exam?
