I am searching for a tool where I can obtain a listing of the census tracts associated with a zip code. In other words, I want to be able to enter a zip code and find out what census tract(s) it would fall within.

I sent you a PM with info on a company that has such a list that you can purchase.

They don't match up well though, do they?

It is not a one for one correlation. A tract can contain several zips and zips can contain many tracts. Much depends upon geography of the area. But you can get the cross-reference.

You can also map zips over tracts - which can be useful when planning sales campaigns tied to CRA performance.

The effort to reach the unbanked and the underbanked, the Bank On campaigns, is where the reliance has been on zip codes that I have experienced. Zip codes are the primary sources for determining geography when we use the deposit side of the bank.

I hesitate to say anything, I don't want to give the regulators the idea we need to start determining census tracts when opening transaction, savings and investment products.

Banks will sometimes use zips when developing small business lending sales campaigns.
