Can someone please help me with Durbin A? I am supposed to cover this for our bank but I'm not sure did it go in effect yet? What are we suppose to do operationally? Is there any detailed info somewhere so I can learn more about it?
Any input is greatly appreciated.

That is the Interchange fee bill and being vehemently opposed by lots of bank lobbies and several senators/congressmembers.

Thanks so much for sharing. I checked out few other resources as well and what I got from is that April 21 the Interchange rules suppose to be released.

I'm assuming it is being delayed? Still I wanted to be prepared for when become effective July 21.

Don't we all, we just don't have a clue what to do about it.

The Fed told Congress that it could not deliver a final regulation by the 4/21/11 deadline. There are a lot of sponsors for the bill that would implement a "wait and study" delay in the Durbin Amendment's effective date. What remains to be seen is whether Congress will step up to the plate and pass something.

In the meantime, the Fed has also taken a lot of flak for its proposed rule that would implement the Durbin Amendment. The Fed says it has a large team working on the rule, although that could have changed given the hope that Congress will act.

The fact of the matter is, unless the Fed issues a final rule, the industry is very much in Limbo on this question.
