We make lines of credit available to busines customers. On occasion, depending on various criteria, we automatically increase the available line amount. Is there any reason why we wouldn't be able to report these automatic increases as small business loans?

If the line meets all other small business qualifying criteria you report the total line once a year. If durning the year you increase the line you can count only the amount of the increase.

To tag onto Don....Yes! You report them. Look at the changes that took place in 2001 dealing with renewals and increases. (CRA Getting it right). They're reportable, but as mentioned, the increase is only reported once per year as one lump figure.

I have one that was a renewal of a LOC in May ($151,000); however it September the line was turned into a 5 year loan for $171,000. Should we consider this a refinance and only report the $20,000 the second time or is it really a new loan and we would report the entire $171,000? We did give it a new note # so it is not a continuation of the previous loan. A little unsure about how to look at this one. Thanks for any input!!
