You dont how many times I have been told as I was driving through, Utah, Nevada or California deserts, "It wont be too bad, its dry heat". Try sticking a blow dryer in your face or sticking you head in a heated oven.....That's dry heat too! LOL Blow Dryer in the face is a perfect description of what it feels like going in and out of buildings this time of year! It is just plain uncomfortable, but I'll take the heat over snow, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc. We'll get back to decent temps by Sept. or Oct.

I'm with you Sox! Sing, the first time we went to Vegas, and walked out of the airport to catch a cab  It was like opening a hot oven door on a hot day.

Our heat snap finally broke last night. Woke up to low 60s this morning and today isn't supposed to be any warmer than 82 (with relatively low humidity). Can't wait for that to move east

The heat doesn't bother me - what bothers me is that it is all people here at work wanna talk about ... "can you believe this heat?" "It's like a stove" ...
Yeah it's hot, triple digits yesterday, it is SUMMER right?
I will take the heat over the freaky destructuve thunderstorms we have been having any day.

It is 95 with a heat index of 105. Stepped outside and it took my breath away.
(mainly since we have had a very mild summer in the high 70's to mid 80's)

I will take the heat over the freaky destructuve thunderstorms we have been having any day. He11 must have frozen over and the residual heat is what's killing us - Peepers is assembling an exercise bike and CubDave is in the cooler!

When my husband moved from Louisville, KY to Augusta, GA he said that Augusta had 4 seasons also - 3 of hot and one of not-so-hot.
Yes, this heat is awful, but it will break given time.

Massive small pocket storm hit here at my location yesterday. Trees down everywhere - even turned over a small plane at the local airport. Power outages - even at the bank. Got re-routed on my way home yesterday several times due to road blockages.
At home - 7 miles away - barely a sprinkle.

Sounds about right, EBG. In my corner of OK, June looked like this: 1 day over 110 7 days from 105-109 14 days from 100-104 8 days from 95-99 Our lowest high was 95 on June 1. Aside from one day (June 21, 97 degrees), we've been at or above 100 every day since June 12. Half of Oklahoma is listed as "exceptional drought", the other half as "severe drought". We are pretty close to that dividing line. My yard is green and my plants are in fair to failing condition. I think I'm going to stop watering my lawn and focus on those plants. Can't do both as all that watering, along with keeping a pool full and keeping all 5 of us clean is costing up to $400/month. Won't be long before they ban lawn watering anyway, I'm sure.
