#161996 - 02/19/04 11:06 PM FFIEC has pulled down their 2004 preliminary data

Late this afternoon, the FFIEC removed the 2004 preliminary Census Data they posted earlier this week. Removing the data could be a result of the OMB's very recent publishing of revised MSA/MD definitions, or that the MSA/MD median family income values for those metro areas that did not change between 2003 and 2004 were also slightly different than the FFIEC's published 2003 values. Whatever the reason, it seems likely that new data will be re-posted shortly.

Click here to access the OMB bulletin dated 2/18/04. At the bottom of the bulletin, there are two attachments that you should review.

The revised preliminary data has been posted. See this web page

http://www.ffiec.gov/hmda/products_filespecs.htm#Census

Has anyone seen any guidance from the regulators about how or when we should start using this data? I read that they will issue a final 2004 census file after HUD revises the MFI limits for 2004 based on the new MSAs/MDs and after the Census Bureau makes some revisions. Should we do nothing until the final file comes out?
