Because we have different fund availability based on a local vs non local check, we are required to explain what local and non local is in our funds availability policy. We are in the First District. To keep things simple (for training and policy purposes), instead of listing the routing numbers in the first district, we would like to state that local are checks drawn on a bank in New England. This actually would allow a few bank's that are in the Second District to be considered local. All banks in the First District would be local. Reg CC commentary doesn't address this. Is anyone else using this type of language?

Actually, the banks in question are in the Windsor Locks (Connecticut) check processing region, even though they are second district banks. So all banks located in New England would include all that are processed in either Boston or Windsor Locks.

You could safely describe your local area as including all New England banks, if your programs include the 0211 and 2211 routing number banks as local.
