Am I understanding this correctly? If our ATM meets the 1991 regs and has voice capabilities no further action is required unless we have the machine altered are replaced. If there are no voice capabilities this must be done.

If your ATM meets 1991 standard for height/reach and has voice guidance it might not require further upgrade. If it doesn't have the voice guidance it will require upgrade.

Don't forget that there are other criteria to comply with such as the blank screen privacy function and having a braille sticker that gives instructions on how to initiate and use the voice guidance.

Thank you. I guess I am stuck on the interpretation of capabilities. If the ATM has the capability for voice but is not activated does it need to be upgraded if no other alterations are being done?

Yes. Voice guidance has to be active and ready for use.

If I can't visit your machine next month and use the voice guidance you are going to be out of compliance.
