Any idea how to correct dup. filings for CTRs? I have called the hotline and was told they do not have a process as of yet. Anyone run into this?

That's correct, there is currently no way to correct the dup is what we have also been told.

In the past (paper filing days, many moons ago) we would write a letter to FinCEN to document the dup for our records. We would receive a letter back stating that dups couldn't be removed from the system but would still keep everything to support our efforts to correct. We try to be very diligent not to duplicate records.

Maybe someday FinCEN will figure it out!

Thanks! It was when we first swtiched over to Efiling (I guess getting used to everything) Now I believe we have a better "system" to keep this from happening again. Efiling is new to us still! But liking it much better than paper!

It is funny you all have been told there is no process. I had an issue and contacted them. They said I needed to write them a letter to a specific address with the CTR information including the DCN that needed to be removed.

I sent the letter. FinCEN returned the letter to me with another letter instructing me to send it to another address for FinCEN (funny how they had to mail it BACK to me and couldn't forward it on)...

Anyway, that was the process I was told when I called. And, that was about a month or so ago and was for records we had e-filed.

I think it depends on the day and who you get on the phone! LOL Like Jenny said include the DCN #'s in your letter and hopefully you will have success in getting the records removed!
