I still envision you completing the race as some sort of back-pack or otherwise being carried by any combination of people. Think a line of 3-4 people and you laying across all the shoulders.

I am easing back into running after taking the last 2 months off. I'm cautiously watching the hip hot spots to see if it gets worse and am continuing to strengthen them during my cross training. Feeling good today. Was out for about 40 minutes last night, did a 5 minute warm up, then 5 reps of 5 minutes of a stead run and 2 minutes of a walk, and then a short cool down and stretch.
Tonight is Spin class and weights. And then a day off.

You are doing it the smart way NP. Taking a little more time going in will save you getting injured and having to start over. Hips are fussy little joints that have to move with in a large range of motion and carry most of our weight in doing so. Fan shaped muscles, pulling them in all kinds of directions at once. They are, at once, totally amazing and a real pain in the a$$.

That reminds me, I attempted the one you described last week...kicked the ceiling. Ooops Guess you need a higher one to accomodate all the acrobatics involved there! Maybe if I looked like you (but younger) I'd just go set up a bar in the parking lot and show off my skills!

The State Fair starts this week. Other than going out to see just how far the human race has devolved and eating carp, I like to go tho to the Marine recruiting tent. They always have a chinup bar going for people to see how many they can do. I wear my glasses and pull my pants up real high and slump. I stand around and watch young guys squeak 4 or six..sometimes as many as 11! Then I as if I can play.....

A chin-up hustler, sure as the day is long! (<--You like that? I'm trying to speak "old person" for you!)
I always laugh at those things. It's funny to see people ratcheting out 15-20 but noticing they're only going half-way down (to about a 90-degree angle at the elbow). Bet they could do 2-3 real ones at most!

Sadly my experience is that only about 1 in 15, that try, can lift their body weight at all! Of those only one or two can manage more than 10 real, over hand chinups. Sad...

So, 1/15th of ~7,065,864,800 = 471,057,653 but only 1 or two of those can do more than 10? So you're one of the top two strongest people in the world?? ::bows:: Or maybe you meant 1 or 2% of those? So between 4,710,576 & 9,421,153? Either you're at the very top, or you're in the top 0.067-0.133%. I need to know what it is so I know how impressed to be! (Yep, I'm being that guy, can't let you get away with any shenanigans you know!)

Actually I meant I meant out of those that I watched attempting to do them. that would be out of 150 to 200 tops. So maybe still in the top 10%? I could live with this. Has anybody gone to R.I.P.P.E.D. class? Thanking about thrying it out but the gym manager said he tried and it killed him. Wondering if he's just a whimp or not. The Y here offers it, although I haven't tried it (yet). Their description says that it's "created for all fitness levels." I'm wondering if it's like my Rip 60 DVDs?
