Can anyone help me with an Excel question. Can I take 2 Excel files and compare the data for matches? Or, do both databases have to be in the same file but on different sheets? Or, do both databases have to be on the same sheet? I have completed a search in Excel and I'm not sure I'm finding the right answer - it is giving me instructions on how to "filter a list by using advanced criteria".

It's easy to do in Microsoft Access, but I don't know of a way to do it in Excel. It's also easy to pull your excel worksheets into Access if you have that program.

Both databases have to be on the same sheet in the same file with Excel sorting by columns.

Thanks for the help! We don't have Access but the other should work.

You can use the VLOOKUP function. That lets you access a separate spreadsheet.
